I am with Alice at her flat looking out of the window. It is night. There are lots of drunk people in the street below. Some seem enraged. Lots of confrontations - perhaps police cars?
Are we having to go outside so Alice can have a cigarette? This seems rather dangerous. I think with Disney of a time when we had done this before. I was constantly worried about the drunk people.
On the street - again it is night. There is some kind of showman. He seems like a normal young man, perhaps with a top hat, but there is something, if not sinister about him, then something wily.
He is placing people in odd ways - having them float suspended in the air - one above the other. Some kind of hypnosis? The people look odd - as if the proportions of the floating people do not seem quite right in relation to each other. Nonetheless, his skills are impressive.
The Showman has a piece of machinery with him - something to do with his act. In compartments on his machine, I can see images of toy cars. 'It is all done with mirrors' I say to presumably Alice. I look again. The mirrors are now obvious to discern.
The Showman is explaining something about the machine to someone - 'yes, these are small plastic cars'. It is some kind of circular racing game that can be controlled. The cars themselves, racing around some kind of circular diss are curiously flat.
